Barranquilla - 2013 Cultural Capital

According to the article, the process of barranquilla being the capital of culture came from long time ago, the major was trying to obtain this title a few months ago so they looked for the president of the International Bureau of Cultural Capitals " Xavier Tudela". They attended the call and came to this city, they were shocked because of the happy and enjoyable enviorement and its culture proyection so they finally decided to become barranquilla in the american capital of culture 2013.
This recognition does barranquilla promoted in an international level because of the agreements of the bureau has with Antena 3 of Spain and Discovery Networks, this kind of publicity can make tourists come to the city, this means a considerable capital of money for barranquilla.

  1. I find it very interesting when you say that they were "shocked" because of our environment and culture! It clearly stands out how different European and Latin-American societies are. They might feel fascinated about the way we live, the way we interpret life.

    Definitely, being named the American Capital of Culture is a huge goal, a really important recognition to our history.

This award is one of the many we are going to receive, we just need people like the major and others members of the society who are interested in the progress of our city Barranquilla. We are the ones who have to show to the world how amazing we are and all the strength we also have. We are not a town, Barranquilla has an international profile and now is the Capital of Culture, we made it and every progress we could have, is in our hands!

Well, I have to day this is pretty much what I would say in the first place, Of course I'm agree, I think barranquilla became a very important turistic and cultural city among the years, with the carnaval, the cultural behavior of the people changes and brings joy and happiness to the visitors and that implies the economic development of the city.
